New Delhi, March 11 -- Chennai is currently experiencing an intense heatwave, with temperatures soaring to unusually high levels. Several areas in the city have recorded above-normal temperatures, creating a heatwave-like situation.

March 6, 2025 marked the hottest day of the year so far for Chennai. In Nungambakkam, the mercury reached 36.4 degrees Celsius, which is 3.6 degrees Celsius above normal. Meanwhile, Meenambakkam recorded an even higher temperature of 37.7 degrees Celsius, exceeding the normal by 4.3 degrees Celsius.
