New Delhi, March 3 -- Many of India's farmers don't have the resources to invest in land-care practices. The government needs to step in, said Dr Biswapati Mandal, professor, Bidhan Chandra Krishi Vishwavidyalaya, Kalyani.

One of the major factors for degradation of land is nutrition imbalance. There should be sensitisation programmes by the government for farmers to understand how to balance soil nutrition, he added.
