New Delhi, May 15 -- More than one in four cars sold worldwide this year is set to be electric as the sales of electric vehicles continue to break records globally. Global sales of electric cars, which exceeded 17 million in 2024, are on track to surpass 20 million in 2025, according to the Global EV Outlook 2025, released by the International Energy Agency (IEA) on May 14, 2025. Despite uncertainties in the outlook, the share of electric cars in overall car sales is set to exceed 40 per cent in 2030 under today's policy settings, states the annual publication of IEA.
