New Delhi, Aug. 8 -- Some 978 plastic waste management units (PWMUs) were operational till December 5, 2024, Kirti Vardhan Singh, minister of state in the Union Ministry of Environment, Forest and Climate Change told the Rajya Sabha on August 7, 2025.

He added that 15.3 million tons of plastic packaging waste has been processed by registered plastic waste processors since 2022.
