New Delhi, May 23 -- By 2050, antimicrobial resistance (AMR) could threaten the food security of two billion people and inflict an economic loss of $100 trillion if urgent action was not taken, according to the first global report on animal health released by the World Organisation for Animal Health (WOAH) on May 23, 2025.
The report found that pathogens were increasingly resistant to treatment, with some no longer responding to antimicrobial drugs.
