New Delhi, Dec. 31 -- The truism is that the availability of credible and timely intelligence for a nation's statecraft and military planning is unquestionable. However, the significant aspect of intelligence acquisition prior to and during the 1971 operations was not of the desired standards. There were thus avoidable gaps in Indian military planning and execution during actual operations.
