Sri Lanka, Nov. 30 -- The Palm Oil Industry Association of Sri Lanka (POIA) renewed its call on the authorities last week to lift the ban on the highly lucrative palm oil plantation in the country considering the colossal drain of foreign exchange from the country, each year when the need is to save the much needed currency for useful ventures.
The POIA has been the voice for the relaxing of the ban on the rich crop for close to a decade, urging the authorities who have maintained silence to shed political interest and myths around the plantation which could yield much higher benefits than the conventional crops such as rubber and coconut both land and labour intensive.
