Sri Lanka, Aug. 31 -- What the international media seems unable to realise is that imagery is more important in any political ecosystem than detail. The people of Sri Lanka expected that there would be a systemic overhaul when they voted the present Government into power.

A systemic overhaul needs to be more than merely cosmetic. This is why the events of last week culminating in the arrest and subsequent remanding of former President Ranil Wickremesinghe have struck a chord in the wider society.
