Srilanka, Oct. 19 -- Farmers' woes continue despite the many promises to uplift their lot, and today are unable to keep the wolf from the door due to multiple reasons.

The absence of a stable market, consistent policies, exploitation of the middlemen, high utility prices, cost of inputs like fertiliser and fuel, and market disruptions are taking a toll on the farming community which fed the nation for centuries.
