To address the specific needs of the turmeric processing industry, the ICAR - Indian Institute of Spices Research (IISR) in Kozhikode, Kerala, has developed a new light-colored turmeric variety. This new variety, named IISR Surya, features a light-colored rhizome suitable for the powdering industry. It was created after extensive research and is expected to greatly benefit farmers by enhancing the production of high-quality turmeric powder.
