New Delhi, July 1 -- External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar has expressed optimism that ongoing trade negotiations between India and the United States are moving towards a "successful conclusion", while stressing the importance of finding a "meeting ground" between the two nations.

Speaking at Newsweek's headquarters at One World Trade Center in Manhattan, near the 9/11 Memorial, Jaishankar said: "You spoke about trade, yes we are in the middle, hopefully, more than the middle, of a very intricate trade negotiation."

"Obviously, my hope would be that we bring it to a successful conclusion. I cannot guarantee it, because there's another party to that discussion," he added.
