New Delhi, Feb. 26 -- Washington Post owner Jeff Bezos has announced a major shift in the newspaper's opinion section, stating that it will now focus on defending "two pillars: personal liberties and free markets." Bezos shared the news in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Wednesday, emphasising that viewpoints opposing these principles would be left for others to publish.

"There was a time when a newspaper, especially one that was a local monopoly, might have seen it as a service to bring to the reader's doorstep every morning a broad-based opinion section that sought to cover all views. Today, the internet does that job," Bezos wrote.
