New Delhi, Dec. 8 -- Popular filmmaker Vikram Bhatt and his wife, Shwetambari Bhatt, were arrested for cheating the owner of Indira IVF Hospital, who wanted to make a biopic on his late wife, of Rs.30 crore.

The Udaipur police arrested the couple from Mumbai on Sunday, December 7.

Six other people have also been accused of defrauding Udaipur-based Dr Ajay Murdia, founder of Indira Group of Companies, news agency PTI reported, citing the official.

Two people were previously arrested in connection with the cheating case.

Dr Murdia, owner of Indira IVF Hospital, wanted to make a biopic on his late wife, the official said. In his FIR, the doctor alleged that he was promised earnings of Rs.200 crore.
