New Delhi, Aug. 14 -- A member of the bronze medal-winning Indian hockey team and father of tennis legend Leander Peas, Vece Paes breathed his last on Thursday at the age of 80. Vece, who was suffering from advanced stage of Parkinson's disease, was admitted to a city hospital on Tuesday morning.

Born in 1945 in Goa, Vece donned several hats in Indian sports. He played as a midfielder in the Indian hockey team and also participated in several other sports like football, cricket and rugby. He had also served as the president of the Indian Rugby Football Union from 1996 to 2002.
