New Delhi, March 22 -- Multiple people were injured in a mass shooting on Friday night at a city park in Las Cruces, New Mexico.

According to a statement by Las Cruces police posted to Facebook, officers responded shortly after 10 pm on Friday to reports of gunfire at Young Park.

After reaching the scene of the incident, police and fire personnel discovered an undisclosed number of people with gunshot injuries.

Most of the victims were rushed to local hospitals, while some of them to University Medical Center in El Paso.

According to some media reports, one persom has died in the shooting.

It remained unclear exactly how many people were injured and the extent of their injuries, the police said.
