New Delhi, Nov. 5 -- Six women passengers were killed after being struck by another train while getting down from the wrong side of their coach at the Chunar Railway Station. According to Indian Railways, the tragedy occurred when several passengers attempted to alight from the train on the wrong side and were run over.

Government Railway Police Inspector Raghvendra Singh confirmed there were six deaths. The deceased were identified as Savita, 28, Sadhna, 16, Shiv Kumari, 12, Anju Devi, 20, Sushila Devi, 60, and Kalawati, 50.

The incident occurred at approximately 9:30 am on Wednesday when the Chopan Express halted at platform four of the Chunar railway station, and the passengers reportedly chose to alight from the wrong side.
