New Delhi, March 3 -- Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Monday said that the government acted swiftly after stampede at Mahakumbh in Prayagraj on January 29, and also dismissed reports of pollution at the Sangam during the Maha Kumbh.

"We acted swiftly to prevent panic after stampede during Maha Kumbh," said Yogi Adityanath.

The Chief Minister made the remark while addressing a gathering of Indian Institute of Management (IIM) and Indian Postal Service officials in Lucknow.

At least 30 devotees were killed and 60 others injured at the Sangam ghat on Mauni Amavasya, a key bathing day of the Maha Kumbh, after the stampede.
