New Delhi, Jan. 16 -- Kathleen Kennedy will be retiring from her role as president of the 'Star Wars' movie producer Lucasfilm this week. She will be replaced with Dave Filoni, a protege of 'Star Wars' creator George Lucas and the co-creator of the 'Star Wars' streaming TV series "The Mandalorian."

Kennedy, 72, will continue her journey as a full-time producer with the studio's upcoming releases like 'The Mandalorian' and 'Grogu' and 'Star Wars: Starfighter', Walt Disney confirmed on Thursday.

Disney has named Dave Filoni, 51, as the new president and chief creative officer of Lucasfilm. He will be working alongside co-president Lynwen Brennan, who runs the studio's business operations.
