New Delhi, Aug. 13 -- The Delhi stray dog matter, in which a two-judge bench of the Supreme Court on 11 August directed that stray dogs in the Delhi-NCR region be relocated to designated shelters, has now been referred to a three-judge bench, LiveLaw reported.

The decision comes amid growing legal complexity, public debate, and conflicting judicial orders on how to manage Delhi-NCR's stray dog population.

On 11 August, a two-judge bench comprising Justice J. B. Pardiwala and Justice R. Mahadevan directed municipal authorities in Delhi-NCR to remove stray dogs from all localities within eight weeks and place them in dedicated shelters.
