New Delhi, March 17 -- Tech billionaire Elon Musk's old video reaffirming Tesla's plans to establish its presence in India went viral amid the US electric carmaker signing a lease deal to open its first showroom in Mumbai.

In a viral video from 2023, Musk also acknowledged Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi's support for Tesla's expansion into the Indian market.

"I am planning to visit India next year. Tesla will be in India as soon as humanly possible. I would like to thank the Prime Minister for the support. Hopefully, we will be able to announce something in the future. We do not want to jump the gun on the announcement, but it is quite likely that there will be a significant investment in India in the future," said Musk.
