O Islamic Water,
I aspire to practice
The ethics of democracy
As my way of life.
Not as a slogan,
Not as a ceremony,
But as an everyday praxis
Of Equality.
Yet,
When I live democratically,
When I celebrate
The Universal Declaration of Human Rights,
And when I celebrate
The Constitution of India,
When I embody the Ambedkar Constitution
As my public social ethic,
The consequence is
The end of my life
In the democracy of India.
O Water,
This is not a failure of law.
This is the law functioning
As caste,
As religion,
As purity,
As culture,
As tradition,
As ideology,
As Sanatan Sharia.
