NEW DELHI, Jan. 20 -- One phrase that had nearly gone out of circulation was "Unity in Diversity." Originally coined by the first Prime Minister, Jawaharlal Nehru, it first appeared in his book The Discovery of India. He believed that India's diversity of languages, religions, castes, and creeds could be a source of strength, not conflict. It denotes harmony and unity among different cultures and regions.
