India, Nov. 2 -- Urinary Tract Infection (UTI) is an infection in the urinary tract. As per Johns Hopkins Medicine, women are most vulnerable to UTI. Furthermore, the NHS stated that a UTI occurs when bacteria from the stool enter the urinary tract. Since women have a shorter urethra than men, the bacteria quickly reach the bladder or kidney and cause an infection.
A study published on October 23, 2025, in the Journal of the American Society for Microbiology narrowed down the mechanisms by which certain UTIs occur. The link traces back to food handling practices in the kitchen.
