New Delhi, May 21 -- The general purposes committee of Delhi Assembly will on Wednesday take a call on BJP chief whip Abhay Verma's proposal to install the portrait of Hindutva ideologue Vinayak Damodar Savarkar alongside those of social reformer Maharishi Dayanand Saraswati and educationist Pandit Madan Mohan Malaviya at the Assembly. In a letter on Tuesday to Speaker Vijender Gupta (seen by HT), Verma described the proposal as a "matter of great significance, which is not only connected to our glorious past but can also serve as a source of inspiration for future generations".
