Dehradun, 14 Dec: Kavita Chand, 40, from Almora has brought pride to India by successfully summiting Mount Vinson (4,892 metres), the highest peak in Antarctica, on 14 December 2025. Based in Mumbai, Kavita's achievement has resonated strongly back home, where her journey from the hills of Uttarakhand to one of the world's most remote peaks is being widely celebrated.

The summit marks a significant step in Kavita's pursuit of the prestigious Seven Summits challenge, which involves scaling the highest mountain on each of the seven continents. She has already summited Mount Elbrus, the highest peak in Europe, placing her firmly on course to achieve the milestone.
