DEHRADUN, 21 Feb: The Department of Theatre and Folk Performing Arts at Doon University organized International Mother Language Day in a dignified and literary atmosphere. The objective of the programme was to create awareness about the preservation, promotion, and dissemination of rich mother tongues such as Garhwali and Kumaoni.

Vice-Chancellor of Doon University, Prof Surekha Dangwal, in her address said, "Our mother tongues are the mother of our culture. We must come forward collectively for their preservation and promotion; only then will we be able to strengthen our cultural roots."
