Dehradun, Feb. 10 -- Indians presently constitute the second-largest number of legal immigrants to the United States, after Mexicans. These include those seeking short- and long-term visas, as well as the ones intending to ultimately obtain US citizenship. It is an established fact that people of Indian origin contribute disproportionately to the economy and are much sought after by tech companies to do jobs for which personnel are not available locally. The remittances they send home are also a significant contribution to the Indian economy. As such, it is the interests of this community that the Government of India has to prioritise when it comes to engagement with the US Government.
