Roorkee, 9 Dec: IIT Roorkee, authorised by the Department of Agriculture, Government of Uttar Pradesh, is launching a pioneering programme through which farmers will receive direct income based on scientifically verified carbon credits. This programme will use a digital Monitoring, Reporting, and Verification (DMRV) system in line with international standards. Soil carbon additions and farm-level greenhouse gas emission reductions from practices such as minimum tillage, cover cropping, residue management, agroforestry, and advanced biofertiliser use will be scientifically measured and converted into verified carbon credits.
