Dehradun, July 18 -- Dr Tripta Thakur has been appointed as the new Vice-Chancellor of Veer Madho Singh Bhandari Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) by the Governor and Chancellor of the University, Lt Gen Gurmit Singh (Retd). Her appointment, made under Section 9 of the Uttarakhand Technical University Act, 2005, stipulates a tenure of three years or until further orders. The Raj Bhawan of Uttarakhand today officially issued the appointment order.

Prior to taking charge at UTU, Dr Thakur has served as the Director General of the National Power Training Institute (NPTI), Faridabad. She brings with her substantial administrative and academic experience, which is expected to aid in reforming the embattled institution.
