Dehradun, 25 Jun: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) today observed the 50th anniversary of the Emergency as 'Constitution Murder Day' across Uttarakhand, in line with its nationwide campaign to mark what it describes as one of the darkest chapters in Indian democracy.

Addressing party workers, State BJP President and Rajya Sabha MP Mahendra Bhatt reminded that 25 June 1975 marked a grave betrayal of constitutional values, when fundamental rights were suspended, press freedom was crushed, and scores of political leaders, social activists, students and ordinary citizens were imprisoned.
