Dhaka, Oct. 10 -- The passing of the primate expert and wildlife advocate Jane Goodall last week reminded me of the words of the theoretical physicist and cosmologist Stephen Hawking: "We are just an advanced breed of monkeys on a minor planet of a very average star. But we can understand the Universe. That makes us something very special." In the spirit of Hawking's words, Goodall's work with chimpanzees and other great apes in Africa brought the world closer to a sense of its biological evolution and hence to its origins.
