Dhaka, May 20 -- Environment Adviser Syeda Rizwana Hasan has said that the government is developing strategic plans to curb ongoing damage to the rivers.

She said, "We have little control over upstream activities, and damming has reduced river flows. Therefore, the government is formulating plans to prevent further damage to the rivers in this region."

Rizwana Hasan made these remarks during an inspection of water flow in the Baral River basin and the Atgharia Regulator in Baraigram, Natore, on Monday afternoon.

She expressed concern over environmental degradation caused by brick kilns, stating that a priority-based plan will be implemented to regulate brick kiln operations.
