Dhaka, Dec. 12 -- America's just-released National Defence Strategy (NSS) sketches the geographical outlines of the new world order that President Trump envisages in his second term. The strategy recognises zones of influence governed by great powers: America in the Western Hemisphere, China in the Pacific, and Europe. Russia does not make it to the list, which is astonishing.
Nevertheless, NSS 2025 is clear about its goals. America is prepared to assert and enforce a "Trump Corollary" to the Monroe Doctrine. That doctrine, which was declared by US President James Monroe in 1823, stated that the Americas were closed to further European colonisation and intervention, and that such attempts at control would be considered hostile by America...
