India, Aug. 29 -- A lawsuit initiated in San Francisco against OpenAI and its CEO Sam Altman has once again sparked a lot of serious debate on the issue of AI safety and mental health protection of chatbots. It is alleged in the case that ChatGPT was used to authenticate the suicidal ideation of a teenager, instructed on how to commit suicide, and even wrote the suicide note. This incident so clearly shows the continuing failures in watchfulness regarding AI: even with the remarkable progress, the dangers of human-like conversational models in mental health are serious and need to be mitigated before any additional scaling takes place.
