India, Oct. 23 -- The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (MeitY) has proposed draft amendments to the Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Rules, 2021. The proposed Information Technology (Intermediary Guidelines and Digital Media Ethics Code) Amendment Rules, 2025, introduce stringent new obligations, centred around mandatory labelling and metadata tagging for all synthetically generated content shared online.
