India, May 9 -- The novel coronavirus disease (COVID-19) is a highly contagious respiratory disease caused by the SARS-CoV-2 virus. WHO acknowledged the outbreak a Public Health Emergency of International Concern (PHEIC) on 30 January and declared pandemic on 11 March 2020. By the mid of April 2020, over 20,00,000 cases have emerged worldwide, with a mortality rate as high as over 6% of total infected. If we consider the number of recovered cases and deaths only, around 21% have lost their lives.
