Bangladesh, Jan. 1 -- In a joint statement with US President Donald J. Trump in October last year, his Egyptian and Turkish counterparts Abdel Fattah El-Sisi and Recep Tayyip Erdoğan as well as Qatari Emir Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani talked of their “ commitment” to peace by ending the “suffering” the peoples have undergone on account of the war in Gaza . They talked of their “determination to dismantle extremism and radicalization in all its forms in the region. One, however, finds it hard to trust any of the signatories to this statement. It seems they all have issued the statement on the noble cause of peace just out of some fashion. Their statement is devoid of substance on the ground.
