India, Aug. 21 -- Qualcomm Technologies, has announced the Snapdragon W5+ Gen 2 and W5 Gen 2 wearable platforms, which introduce enhancements in connectivity, energy efficiency, form factor, and location tracking.

Notably, these platforms are the first in the wearable industry to incorporate satellite communication support, utilising Skylo's Narrowband Non-Terrestrial Network (NB-NTN). This development enables two-way emergency messaging directly from the wearable device, potentially useful in remote locations where mobile network coverage is unavailable. For example, users engaged in outdoor or off-grid activities can send SOS messages in case of emergency without relying on terrestrial networks.
