India, April 28 -- The Government of India has issued an official advisory cautioning citizens against falling prey to a misleading WhatsApp message requesting donations for the modernisation of the Indian Army. The message, which falsely claims endorsement from the Union Cabinet and actor Akshay Kumar, provides incorrect bank account details, resulting in dishonoured online transactions.

The Government clarified that no such Cabinet decision has been made and urged the public to remain vigilant against fraudulent schemes that exploit sentiments around the armed forces.
