Tashkent, Jan. 20 -- The chair of Uzbek Tourism Development agency, Aziz Abduhakimov has attended the 113th session of the UNWTO Executive Council in Madrid. On Wednesday he also met with Zurab Pololikashvili, Secretary-General of the organization.

Pololikashvili praised Uzbekistan's efforts in supporting entrepreneurs during 2020, which was full of hardships and challenges, adding that only three countries, namely the UAE, Saudi Arabia and Uzbekistan have managed to continue channelling huge resources into the tourism sector.

Abdukhakimov, in turn, proposed to hold the XXV session of the UNWTO in 2023 in Samarkand. The Secretary-General accepted the initiative and stated his readiness to support Uzbekistan in this matter.
