India, June 23 -- Thailand's Prime Minister, Paetongtarn Shinawatra, announced today that the kingdom will strengthen its border controls with neighboring Cambodia in order to address 'transnational crime.'

After a high-level government meeting, Paetongtarn said that curbs on cross-border travel for both vehicles and pedestrians will be implemented, including cutting checkpoints' operating hour.

Prime Minister stated that border crossings in seven provinces along the Thai-Cambodian border will be restricted to essential travel, such as for students, medical patients, and necessary goods.
