Us, Dec. 15 -- With 70 percent of Jamaica's tourism assets back in operation, the island officially reopened its tourism sector today following the devastating impact of Hurricane Melissa, as Minister of Tourism, Hon. Edmund Bartlett, credited tourism workers for making the recovery possible.
"The recovery cannot be complete without the workers of our industry," Minister Bartlett said, emphasizing that the reopening milestone was achieved through the determination and resilience of thousands of tourism employees across the island.
The reopening coincides with the start of the critical winter tourism season, a timing Bartlett described as essential for stabilizing livelihoods and restoring confidence in the destination.
