U.S, Feb. 9 -- Jamestown, St Helena - The remote South Atlantic island of St Helena has once again found itself largely cut off from the world after scheduled commercial flights to and from the island were suspended, underscoring the fragility of air access for one of the world's most isolated communities.

According to reporting by BBC, operations at St Helena Airport were halted after the facility temporarily lost the safety certification required to support commercial jet services. The suspension affects the island's only regular air link, operated by South African carrier Airlink.
