Lucknow, Feb. 22 -- The debt burden in Uttar Pradesh has risen to an alarming stage as it is expected to cross Rs 6 lakh crore mark in the next fiscal.
Now every resident of Uttar Pradesh has a debt of Rs 26,572 on his or her head as the debt burden of the state government is expected to reach an astounding amount of over Rs 6,11,161.85 crores, more than the state's total budget of over Rs 5.50 lakh crores. The debt is 28.1 per cent of the State Gross Domestic Product(SGDP).
The debt per person in the state during the current finance year would be around Rs 24,602 when the total debt burden of the state would be around Rs 565909.59 crores which is 29.2 per cent of the SGDP , said the state finance minister Suresh Kumar Khanna, while ...
