Chennai, Sept. 24 -- United Way of Chennai, in association with
the US Consulate General Chennai, organized a three-day swimming,
life skills, and ocean conservation camp for a select group of girls
at Kovalam, which concluded last evening.
Visiting American swimming experts Julia Harbaugh and Nora Deleske,
who are members of the US Department of State's Sports Envoy
Program, trained the participants in open-water swimming and shared
their passion for protecting coastal habitats, a release from US Consulate
and United Way said today.
San-Francisco-based Julia Harbaugh is one of the few trainers in the
world with expertise in teaching swimming to visually challenged persons.
