Srinagar, April 27 -- A traffic police constable was on Tuesday killed by a speeding truck on Srinagar-Jammu national highway in south Kashmir district of Anantnag.
Official sources said that an on duty constable, identified as Abdul Majeed Tantary, was hit and critically injured by a speeding truck at around 0700 hrs on Tuesday at Qazigund in Anantnag. The injured was immediately taken to a hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
The driver of the truck, identified as Mushtaq Ahmad, was arrested and the vehicle was seized. "After completing all the legal and medical formalities, the body of the deceased was handed over to his relatives for last rites," they said.
