Madurai, Jan. 14 -- The temple town of Madurai, also known
as the cultural capital of Tamil Nadu was gearing up to hold the
traditional "Jallikattu" (bull taming) events, including at the world
renowned Alanganallur bull carnival from tomorrow as part of the
four-day harvest festival of Pongal.
The first event will take place in Avaniyapuram, while the second
at Palamedu on January 16 and the Alanganallur event, that would
draw tourists from across India and abroad, will take place on the
following day.
Though, Jallikattu events were held in rural parts of the State,
the Avaniyapuram, Palamedu and Alanganallur villages in this
district becomes the 'Centres of attractions' as hundreds and
thousands of people gather to watch the spect...
