Mumbai, Dec. 12 -- The benchmark index of Bombay Stock Exchange (BSE) on Thursday gained 170.06 points to 40,582.63 on brisk buying in Materials, Bankex, FMCG, IT, and Auto stocks.
The Nifty of National Stock Exchange (NSE) too rose by 46.95 points to 11,957.10.
The sectoral indices like Materials, Bankex, FMCG, IT, and Auto stocks kept the market firm.
The scrips like Tata Motors, Yes Bank, VEDL and Tata Steel gained in intra-day trade.
The Sensex registered intra-day high and low at 40,632.96 and 40,496.82 points respectively.
The Nifty recorded day intra-day high and low at 11,977.30 and 11,934 points respectively.
