Kolkata, March 22 -- Congress president Rahul Gandhi is set to address a public rally at Chanchol in Malda district of West Bengal on Saturday, which is likely to give a big push to his party's Lok Sabha campaign.

"The Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of Bengal has granted permission for the rally of Mr Gandhi at Kolom Bagan ground in Chanchal on March 23," state Congress leader Amitava Chakraborty said. Mr Gandhi, who is coming to Bengal for the first time in 2019, will address what the party expects to be a large gathering at Kolom Bagan ground.

The area comes under Malda North Lok Sabha constituency, a traditional Congress bastion. He is expected to reach the rally ground at around 1500 hours.
