Puducherry, Jan. 14 -- Pongal, the harvest festival of Tamils, was celebrated with gaiety and pomp in the Union Territory on Thursday.

People clad in new dress thronged the temples here to worship the deity, adhering to COVID-19 norms.

They also prepared "sweet Pongal" and exchanged it along with pleasantries to friends and relatives on the occasion.
